IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

Dry eye disease (DED) has several possible causes and treatments  (see dry eyes).

 

A fairly recent treatment option is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). We have extensive experience with DED and offer IPL treatment with the Lumenis M22. This is the best IPL system that is available.

IPL and Meibomian gland Dysfunction  (MGD)

 

MGD:

Meibomian glands produce  a fatty secretion (meibom) which has is an extremely important function in tears. In MGD the production of meibom is decreased which can cause severe dry eye symptoms.

 

IPL treatment can improve the meibomian glands.
